Increase System Performance for Value Streams Supporting Rapid Change

Agile, digital responsiveness to change has been critical for enterprises dealing with the impact of Covid-19. In 2020, your own organization probably shifted to remote work in a matter of days, while simultaneously shifting its approach to engaging with customers and continuing to meet or exceed their needs. Behind the impressive management of these shifts led by HR and other teams in your organization, your infrastructure and operations (I&O) team most likely bore the brunt of ensuring many of these changes were made with speed and precision.

The mainframe, distributed and cloud systems your I&O team manages are the underpinnings of value streams your organization uses to deliver business and customer value. Driving rapid change through those value streams in 2020 required immense support from your IT systems, leaving little room for lagging system performance, capacity issues and other bottlenecks that could impede the delivery of value.

The Onus on I&O to Support Agile Change

If you’re an I&O leader, you already understood—pre-pandemic—that a large part of your performance is measured by the speed and cost at which you and your teams deliver value to your business and its customers. The faster you can identify and resolve issues in the value streams you support, the more agile your business can be in its digital transformation efforts. System bottlenecks must be remediated and mitigated as quickly and efficiently as possible to ensure this.

However, I&O teams often have limited visibility into how siloed systems and environments work together in a value stream. Without a way to view mainframe, distributed and cloud systems in a single value stream, your operations engineers are likely forced to go from system to system, environment to environment to identify and resolve issues. And without doing the extra work of manually pulling metrics, your team is also limited in understanding what impact their actions have on a broader value stream.

Ultimately, this prolongs the mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) of bottlenecks in a business value stream that siloed systems support, leading to increased overhead costs, decreased productivity and delays in the delivery of business value. Of course, the easiest way to solve this is by bringing these systems together in a single view where issues can be identified quickly at a business level versus a technology level.

Learn how to reduce MTTR with ASG-TMON® PA Scope.

Reduce MTTR with ASG-TMON® PA Scope

Solving the issue of MTTR exactly what ASG-TMON® PA Scope was designed for. It’s a modern, intuitive performance management solution that presents a graphical, end-to-end view of issues aggregated across siloed mainframe, distributed and cloud environments.

Near real-time and historical issue alerts as well as the graphical visualization of metrics driving alerts allows your operations engineers to quickly hone in on issues and trends. This quickly reduces MTTR and allows your organization to deliver on business and customer needs through value streams with higher quality and velocity.

ASG-TMON® PA Scope provides a holistic view of the health of your systems from a business value stream perspective. Operations teams using the Scope interface can:

  • Align technology silos with business processes in a value streams viewed within a single, web-based interface
  • Accelerate MTTR using near-real-time alerts and metrics to quickly identify and resolve issues
  • Improve capacity planning by looking at historical system alerts metrics
  • Reduce obstacles for millennial operations engineers working with legacy systems like the mainframe

Equip Your Teams to Increase Performance and Support Change

If 2020 reinforced anything for businesses, it’s that being capable of responding quickly to change and driving more value through digital transformation is table stakes for satisfying customer and business needs to compete in today’s uncertain market.

The reality is you can’t begin to improve upon those initiatives—agile responsiveness and digital transformation—without taking a look at the performance of your IT systems that support them. A first and necessary step is getting a view of your siloed systems through a single pane of glass and having the ability to quickly identify what is wrong with those systems in a way that shows the impact on business value streams.
