EVOLVE20 Proves the Value of Virtual Conferences

EVOLVE20 showed that real rock stars can own any stage – even virtual ones – and that’s who ASG employees, partners and customers are. With more than 500 attendees, EVOLVE20 was ASG’s biggest user conference to date. This year, it was our pleasure to deliver all the impactful keynotes, breakout sessions and entertainment to our customers and partners with the safety of social distancing. For a first-ever virtual event, ASG did it right.

EVOLVE20 embraced what ASG has long said about its partners: We are better together. By inviting the industry’s best minds into the same virtual room for two days, EVOLVE attendees could address new challenges brought on by the pandemic and continue powering their digital transformations. For those who couldn’t make it, here are some of my personal highlights:

Keynotes and a Pandemic Call-to-Action

As ASG CEO Charles Sansbury said in his keynote address, we aren’t in the “new normal,” we’re in the “normal now.” The world just underwent an Industrial Revolution-scale change in a matter of months, rather than years, so organizations must look to vendors for support. Charles extended ASG solutions as that lifeline, encouraging customers to see how ASG can help not just one but several areas of their business. Isaac Kim, Managing Director at Evergreen Coast Capital, joined Charles to discuss investing in technology during such uncertain times. While the pandemic has put many projects on pause, ASG customers and partners should use this lens to sharpen the focus of their digital transformations. As Isaac said, a pandemic-era budget has showed enterprises what matters – and if there isn’t a hard ROI, even the newest, shiniest technology will be put on the shelf.

ASG Innovation

Speaking of new innovations, ASG CPO and EVP Swamy Viswanathan and VP of Product Marketing Kyle McNabb provided EVOLVE20 attendees with updates on ASG’s evolving portfolio. To start, Swamy and Kyle outlined ASG’s innovation framework, so attendees could catch a glimpse into ASG’s priorities and process for delivering capabilities our customers need. The output? ASG released ASG-TMON® PA Scope, a modern and intuitive cross-platform performance management solution, on Day 1 of EVOLVE. Swamy and Kyle also discussed upcoming enhancements to ASG-Zenith, our digital automation platform, and ASG Mobius Content Services.

Women Leaders in Technology

I had the privilege of hosting the third annual Women Leaders in Technology (WLIT) Virtual Coffee Talk. WLIT is always a special experience at EVOLVE, and this year we were thrilled to welcome more than 200 women to the conversation. Our panelists included Jen Stirrup, CEO at Data Relish, Sam Patel, VP Customer and Partner Marketing at Information Builders, and Theresa Parker, Global Practice VP at ASG. With the formal Q&A and impromptu audience questions, the session covered everything from the importance of professional mentorship to our panelists’ biggest mistakes-turned-successes.

2020 Excellence Awards

ASG also announced the winners of our annual Excellence Awards. Congratulations to BNY Mellon for winning Innovator of the Year and Zia Consulting for being named as Partner of the Year for the second consecutive year. BNY Mellon was recognized for its use of ASG Data Intelligence to address the financial services industry’s transition away from LIBOR – a challenge facing most financial institutions today. Zia Consulting was selected for its closely aligned values with ASG and its unparalleled collaboration on cloud readiness and migration, records management and governance, insurance and digital transformation.

Other incredible customers, partners and guests hosted breakout sessions, including:

  • Content Services: Philip Morris International, BigID and Zia Consulting
  • Data Intelligence: JEMS, Citizens Bank, Micron and ibi
  • Systems: Banorte and a Fireside Chat with Dr. Cameron Seay on COBOL

From the executive fireside chats to the professional illusionist, there was no shortage of entertainment and information at EVOLVE20. After a year of uncertainty, one thing is for certain: ASG customers, partners and employees are not only better, but the best, together.
