ASG-TMON Performance Analyzer 11.0 to Help Enterprises Manage the Performance and Costs of IT Resources

Yesterday ASG announced the release of ASG-TMON Performance Analyzer (TMON PA) 11.0, our latest solution geared toward helping organizations intelligently plan for the future and manage IT resource performance and costs. In addition to enhanced reporting and analysis for physical and virtual infrastructures, ASG-TMON PA simplifies SysPlex data collection by automating and summarizing detailed performance data from TMON z/OS and CICS and DB2 monitors for reliable forecasting and capacity planning. These powerful capabilities equip executive and IT decision-makers with the insights they need to accurately track and optimize resource use, control costs and improve service availability — empowering them to effectively predict and plan for future IT infrastructure resource needs.

Despite technology becoming more user-friendly, most modern-day enterprise IT professionals lack visibility into how IT resources are used. Silo-based tools create gaps in infrastructure coverage and data collection, providing IT with a limited understanding of resource utilization and making it difficult to collaborate or make informed decisions across teams. This lack of information presents organizations with unplanned, costly capital expenditures and/or overprovisioning which makes it challenging to relate resource utilization to business growth – ultimately impacting operational efficiency and financial performance.
ASG-TMON PA addresses these problems head on by using TMON performance monitors and other interfaces to collect and centrally store data from multiple technology platforms including Windows, Unix, Linux and z/Architecture environments. By integrating ASG’s renowned capacity planning and performance monitoring capabilities, ASG-TMON PA gives enterprises a single, consistent view of their data – enabling cross-team collaboration around IT resource management and capacity planning. This provides companies with the tools they need to improve IT system and business application availability while controlling costs.
A recent Forrester Total Economic Impact Report™ showcases how ASG-TMON PA can help enterprises save money and reap business benefits. To illustrate what a sample composite organization can expect from the solution, Forrester examined ASG-TMON PA customers and found that they could:
  • Increase productivity by managing IT infrastructure with a much smaller team, freeing up resources to focus on other tasks and delivering an estimated three-year risk-adjusted present value (PV) of approximately $2 million.
  • Optimize IT infrastructure for existing applications, resulting in an estimated three-year risk-adjusted PV of $122,000.
  • Save on storage costs. With more accurate predictions for SAN storage requirements, enterprises can save 10 terabytes of storage capacity per year – or a $97,000 three-year risk-adjusted PV.
  • Avoid overprovisioning of new workloads. Organizations can more effectively right-size the corresponding infrastructure when new workloads are introduced, resulting in an estimated three-year risk-adjusted PV of approximately $61,000.
  • Improve its bottom line, experiencing a net present value (NPV) of $1.5 million and a return on investment (ROI) of 179 percent in three years.
Our goal with this solution is to offer enterprises an extremely efficient way to secure a uniform view of their data cross a variety of IT platforms. By leveraging insights from ASG-TMON PA, enterprise clients will be able to easily manage and optimize the performance and future needs of their hybrid IT resources — with significant cost savings to boot!
