ASG Joins Forces with CyberArk to Support Customers’ Regulatory Compliance Efforts

GDPR has caused a ripple effect in the data privacy world, with many new, and nuanced, regulations now under consideration by lawmakers. In the U.S. alone, the Designing Accounting Safeguards to Help Broaden Oversight and Regulations on Data (DASHBOARD) Act will require large websites to tell consumers the value of their personal data. GDPR’s evolution has also brought businesses much heftier fines with seemingly every new enforcement—including several recent record-breaking fines. Businesses that struggle to adhere to the changing regulatory landscape will put both financial and reputational costs on the line. And yet, headlines noting compliance gaps at some of the world’s most prominent companies continue to reveal many cracks in data security.

One root cause of breaches in security and related compliance lapses? Mismanaged privileged account access.

Forrester estimates that at least 80% of data breaches have a connection to compromised privileged credentials.1 Even the organizations that would presumably be the most secure organizations can struggle with privileged access. For example, one leading financial institution recently compromised the personal information of about 100 million customers following an inside threat situation.

Users with elevated privileges have more access to sensitive systems and personally identifiable information than other employees in an organization. For example, this type of user might have access to privileged credentials, the ability to install or remove organization-wide software, or access to highly-confidential files. For large enterprises, especially those in the highly-regulated banking, healthcare and insurance industries, having this privileged account access compromised can not only lead to critical breaches of private information, but can also result in massive fines and put the organization’s reputation at risk.

To combat this major security and risk challenge, ASG now integrates with CyberArk, the global leader in privileged access security. The CyberArk Privileged Access Security Solution delivers a critical layer of security to ASG’s customers, protecting their customers’ data, infrastructure and assets, in the cloud and throughout the DevOps pipeline. Account credentials are already encrypted in ASG’s database, and CyberArk adds an extra level of visibility and accountability.

IT infrastructure systems, like ASG-Enterprise Orchestrator, send multitudes of information, including privileged credentials, to various servers thousands of time per day. Each time credentials are requested, the program retrieves the details from the product’s database for authorization to proceed. The integrated solution will enable ASG’s IT Systems customers to use CyberArk as the repository of trusted information, with little to no disruption to existing operations.

ASG is dedicated to constantly innovating its products and developing technology-driven integrations with critical enterprise software and cloud service providers to support its customers’ data center management and information security goals. With CyberArk, ASG is introducing critical new capabilities to its IT systems management customers. ASG-Zena and ASG-Enterprise Orchestrator customers will now be able to firmly trust that their privileged account credentials are managed and protected in line with their corporate policies.
