ASG Software Solutions today announced that Vice President of Product Management Ian Rowlands will offer best practices in metadata management at Enterprise Data World 2014 (EDW) during the session “Tell Me Again, How Should I Start with Metadata Management?” on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 10:45 a.m. CDT. While at EDW, taking place in Austin, Texas from April 27-May 1, 2014, ASG will also be exhibiting its metadata Enterprise Information Management (EIM) solution and discussing how it was used by a top five U.S. bank to increase efficiency 80-times.
Attendees come to EDW every year seeking ways to implement a successful metadata management project in order to derive value from data information and improve business processes. This topic is raised, in part, because of fundamental problems in the way that companies approach such projects, basing them on unverified assumptions. In his session, Rowlands will offer tips for executing a successful metadata project, including properly managing stakeholders and justifying the goals of the project to the management team. At ASG’s booth, #58, attendees will also learn how this can be achieved with ASG’s EIM solution, which has helped a leading financial institution reduce data lineage costs by 80 percent.

“Undertaking metadata management is a challenging, but necessary, process for many enterprises,” said Rowlands. “It is required not only to support data governance and regulatory compliance, but also to reduce costs and manage glossaries, data warehouses and reference data. By implementing a solution like ASG’s that grants IT control, quality and transparency, metadata management can be a valuable process that has a huge impact on a company’s bottom line. And, with ASG’s framework for the capturing, integration and analysis of metadata about Big Data, organizations can finally get a handle on the mass amounts of data that continues to flood the enterprise, and use it to improve the business.”
